My Writing Process - the Blog Tour

Today I'm hopping aboard the My Writing Process Blog Tour, a nifty idea where writers and authors answer questions about their writing processes. My friend Sun Chara posted hers last week. You can check out her writing process on her Facebook page (she doesn't have a blog):

So, here's my take on things.

Q: What am I working on?
A: At the moment I'm taking a look at a completed story I wrote a couple of years ago to see what revisions I should make before sending it back out into the land of agents and editors. I also just began writing a new story, focusing on the character of Connor from my psychic detectives series.

Q: How does my work differ from others of its genre?
A: That's a tough one to answer. Every author has a unique voice, so while plots might seem similar, stories always vary from one another for that reason. All I can say is that my voice has been described as a little bit quirky, I try to insert humor, and I do a lot of research to make certain that — even though it might sound unusual — my story idea is at least plausible.

Q: Why do I write what I do?
A: I write the type of stories I enjoy reading. Simple as that.

Q: How does my writing process work?
A: I'm a fly by the seat of her pants writer. I'll research an idea. After that, I sit down, start writing, and it always seems to come together. It's rare if I plot ahead, but I have been doing more of that with my recent books. I also have three tremendously wonderful critique partners who help me along the way. Whenever I finish a chapter, I send it their way for feedback, which is invaluable. My Cps are Pamela Hearon, Abby Niles, and Cynthia D'Alba.

I asked some friends to give their answers next Monday, March 10, so please follow their links below and check out their answers.
